I first began working in the family business as soon as I got my Driver's License in High School. I was the "tool-mule". "Grab those tools, carry that heavy machine, hold the ladder, clean up the mess, and do as you're told". "Yes sir!" They often cut-corners, over-charged for services, and didn't pay nor appreciate their employees fairly. However, they also did some good work which I learned from and integrated into my own skillset. Well, I stuck with it. I spent many hours of my own time to study, learn, and perfect my skills and now 9 years later I own a fantastic business! Every job I paid close attention to how they dealt with customers, troubleshot equipment, performed repairs, installed units, corrected mistakes, and made customers happy! (I also took note of what they did to make customers upset so I don't do that!...) I learned from their success & mistakes ;). Every paycheck I invested in my own tools and eventually my own van. Eventually, I paid the money to take the test and get my own EPA-608 Universal Certification to handle Refrigerants. (A must-have for all serious HVAC/R Technicians). I outgrew the available room in the family business. I started doing side-work after work hours. I soon realized that I was making enough money to go out on my own... Now I have a wonderful family, beautiful daughter & wife, and a full tool-set & skill-set to provide top-quality affordable professional HVAC & R Services to our area. Well, I finally filed the paper work and formed my own business "Affordable AC & Refrigeration Services, LLC". A leap of faith that has definitely paid off big-time!
