  • Deweerd Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.
    4.7
    212 W. Superior St., Wayland, 49348, US

Hugh DeWeerd bought the Plumbing and Heating business in 1955 from Cliff Averill. The business was home-based, and Hugh's wife, Dorothy, was the secretary and bookkeeper. Hugh started by using his personal garage as a parts warehouse and working out of his ford pick-up truck. He made all of his duct work in his sheet metal shop, which was in the basement of his home. In 1962, Hugh joined the Wayland Fire Department, and in 1965, he became Wayland's Fire Chief, from which he retired in 2002 after 40 years of service. In 1975, Hugh and Dorothy DeWeerd purchased the Congregational Church at 212 W. Superior. They originally purchased the church to use as a storage building, but they moved the sheet metal operation into the basement of the church shortly after. In 1981, their son Ron DeWeerd started working full time, and in 1994, he purchased the family business from his parents. In 2000, Ron DeWeerd determined the church was unsafe and had it demolished. In November of 2005, DeWeerd Heating & Air Conditioning began the process of building their new showroom and office. The expansion was completed in September of 2006. DeWeerd Heating and Air Conditioning has been and continues to be a family-owned and operated business, with Ron DeWeerd as owner and CEO, his wife, Nancy DeWeerd, as secretary, and his two sons, Joel Baugh and Jared DeWeerd as employees. At DeWeerd Heating and Air Conditioning, it is our belief that "there is no substitute for quality," and we incorporate this not only into our business, but also into our daily lives.

How can I improve my home's indoor air quality?

You can take these steps to improve your indoor air quality (IAQ):
  • Regular Air Filter Replacement: Change or clean your HVAC system’s air filters regularly (every 1-3 months).
  • Professional Air Duct Cleaning: Have your air ducts cleaned by professionals every few years to eliminate dust, mold, and other contaminants.

  • Clean Regularly: Dust and vacuum frequently to minimize airborne particles.
  • Avoid Smoking Indoors: Smoking indoors significantly reduces IAQ.
