  • Fleetwood's Heating & Cooling
    4.8
40128 M43 Hwy, Paw Paw, MI, 49079, US

Keeping your family comfortable since 1976. We know how important it is to ensure that your home or business’ heating and cooling systems are running efficiently. For that reason, our team of experts is here to help you with all of your HVAC needs, from AC repairs to furnace replacements. Located in Paw Paw, Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling has been serving Southwest Michigan for over 45 years. To assist customers from South Haven to Kalamazoo, we carry top-quality products to cover a complete range of HVAC needs. From day one, the goal has always been to do things the right way and to help as many people as possible. We take pride in taking care of the customers, being honest, and doing the best thing for their situation, not what makes the most money for us. When Bill Fleetwood, a millwright by trade, moved his family to Bloomingdale in 1976, he had no intention of leaving his career. But then times were tough and his home needed a new furnace, and he couldn’t find anyone to do the replacement for him in a cost-effective and timely manner. The issues led him to buy a truckload of furnaces at an auction. He figured he could help friends and neighbors by selling them at a lower cost than others in the industry and giving them the ability to do the work on their own, just as he did. “Well, they sold faster than he thought they would,” said Nick Fleetwood, Bill’s grandson, “so, he went back and did it again, and realized he’d found a way to quit his day job and open up his own business.” More than 45 years later, and through two generations of family ownership, Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling showroom includes 8,000 square feet of space, which is more than five times as large as Fleetwood’s existing facility, giving customers the ability to see and select from a wider product range of full-service HVAC systems, parts, and more. The 12,000 square feet of warehouse space behind the open-to-the-public area means we have a deep inventory and quick response to customers’ needs. Fleetwood’s is unique in the heating and cooling industry because it has held true to its tradition of being open to everyone, from do-it-yourselfers to professional crews, while also having a full team for expert service and installation of residential and commercial HVAC systems. “From day one, the goal has always been to do things the right way to help the most people,” Nick said, noting through the years the company has been operated by his father

  • Roman Air Heating, Cooling & Plumbing
    4.4
    1000 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, 49001, US

At Roman Air HCP, our top priority is the health and safety of you and your loved ones. We take great pride in providing indoor air quality products that are energy efficient, environmentally friendly—and extremely effective when it comes to improving your indoor air quality. The spread of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) has all of us greatly concerned in Michigan. We want a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that is designed to know how to maintain fresh indoor air quality. Indoor air quality equipment can be designed to restore humidity levels, remove stale air—and kills bacteria. In many cases, this equipment is integrated with your existing ductwork and HVAC equipment, which is why you want one of our certified and insured professionals at Roman Air to do the work. Remember, these systems maintain a healthy air quality but do not prevent anyone from getting infected. Coronavirus can survive many days on a surface, such as a door handle. Good hygiene also plays a critical role in your health. Because COVID-19 is spread through respiratory outlets, WHO officials recommend: Wash your hands frequently Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth until you wash your hands Wipe off door handles and light switches (especially if they are frequently used) Maintain a distance of at least three feet from anyone coughing or sneezing Stay home if you feel unwell At Roman Air, we treat all of our clients with professionalism and provide the best furnace repair, and heating & cooling services in the area. With over 18-years of prime experience, we focus on customer satisfaction and pay close attention to changing technologies. We offer our customers in West Michigan (and the surrounding areas) an experience rather than just a heating or A/C repair transaction. In this business you need someone that you can count on through the years, so call us today for all of your heating, cooling, venting, plumbing, and mechanical needs. Frequently Asked Questions About HVAC Companies

Find answers to common questions about HVAC services, finding contractors, and getting the best HVAC systems for your needs.

Should I repair or replace my old furnace?

Deciding between repairing or replacing your furnace depends on
  • Age: Furnaces typically last 15-20 years. If yours is significantly older, replacement is usually the better long-term choice.
  • Frequency and Cost of Repairs: If you've been having repeated repairs, replacing the furnace might be more cost-effective in the long run.
  • Energy Efficiency: Newer furnaces are significantly more energy-efficient, which can lead to lower energy bills.
  • Safety Concerns: Older furnaces can pose safety risks, such as carbon monoxide leaks. A new furnace offers enhanced safety features.
Consult with a trusted HVAC professional to assess your furnace and get recommendations.

What regular maintenance should I do on my HVAC system?

You can perform some simple maintenance tasks on your own to keep your HVAC system running smoothly:
  • Change Air Filters: Change or clean your air filters every 1-3 months. Dirty air filters restrict airflow and decrease system efficiency.
  • Clear Debris: Ensure there are no obstructions near the vents inside your home.
  • Check Thermostat Settings: Make sure your thermostat is set to the desired temperature and is functioning correctly.
For more complex maintenance, like cleaning coils or checking refrigerant levels, contact a qualified HVAC technician. Schedule annual or biannual maintenance with a reputable HVAC contractor.

What is a SEER rating, and why is it important?

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures an air conditioner's cooling efficiency. Higher SEER ratings indicate greater energy efficiency. The minimum SEER rating for new AC units is typically 14, but higher SEER units (16-20 or more) are available. Choosing a higher SEER unit may have a higher upfront cost, but it can result in significant long-term energy savings.

What is a ductless mini-split system?

A ductless mini-split system is a type of HVAC system that doesn't require ductwork. It consists of an outdoor unit (compressor/condenser) and one or more indoor units (air handlers) connected by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring. Each indoor unit cools or heats a specific zone or room, providing customized comfort. Ductless mini-splits are more energy-efficient than traditional ducted systems and are a good option for homes where adding ductwork is impractical.

Should I repair or replace my old furnace?

Here are some factors to consider when deciding whether to repair or replace your furnace:
  • Age: Furnaces typically last 15-20 years. If yours is significantly older, replacement is usually the better overall choice.
  • Frequency and Cost of Repairs: If you've been having frequent or expensive repairs, replacing the furnace might be more cost-effective in the long run.
  • Energy Efficiency: Newer furnaces are significantly more energy-efficient, which can lead to lower energy bills.
  • Safety Concerns: Older furnaces can pose safety risks, such as carbon monoxide leaks. A new furnace offers enhanced safety features.
