Island Breeze HVAC4.6Based on 1243 reviewsWrite a reviewPaul Safrit12:44 18 Jul 24 Our capacitor blew and Shawn got here first thing in the morning, showed us how to fix it and saved us time and money, and checked the whole system while he was here. Highly recommend them. Great company Mark Sanderlin13:39 16 Jul 24 Shawn was super nice and explained the issue to me and even took the time to show me how to do preventative care on the unit so I don’t have this issue in the future. Thanks so much! Thena Riley Amos20:47 15 Jul 24 Island Breeze did a great job getting my zoning board and damper(s) replaced in the summer heat of July! My family and I had to stay at a hotel for a week and incur additional expense with living because of the home warranty red-tape. Island Breeze did everything right and kept me up to date on the parts delivery and install date. I’m so thankful 🙏🏽 Island Breeze accurately diagnosed the issues and quickly fixed my HVAC in less than 2 hours!Thank you John, the technician, with Island Breeze!!! 😊 Kisha Davis17:54 15 Jul 24 Chad was awesome! I called Island Breeze at 9am and they came out at 1pm. House was 86 degrees when he got here, diagnosed and replaced the capacitor in probably less than an hour. By the time he left it was already down to 83. He also took video of a water leak under my house which we had no clue about. Thank you!! Nancy Paschall17:45 15 Jul 24 My air conditioner was not cooling properly and Island Breeze HVAC immediately responded to my service request. Eric came out and immediately diagnosed the problem. He was so friendly and professional. He showed me the part that was causing the problem and explained what the next steps were. Before leaving, he cleaned up the work area. Once the new part came in, Robert came out and installed it. Once Robert completed the installation, he tested the system to ensure that it was working properly and cleaned up everything. He then showed me everything that he had done and asked if I had any questions. Both Eric and Robert were friendly and professional. They arrived on time and spent time to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the service before they left. I give them both 5 stars, as well as Colleen who I spoke with several times in the office and helped me with all my questions and coordination with my home warranty company. I highly recommend Island Breeze HVAC to anyone who needs heating or air conditioning service!I would like to add a second review for repair work performed on my heating system on 11/02/23 by Shawn Leguire. The system was making a strange noise, so I called for service even though my system was still heating. I had recorded the sound it had been making (because everyone knows it never happens when you need it to for the technician to see what's going on). Shawn took his time, went through the whole system (both inside and outside the house - even though the sound I heard came from inside), and was able to diagnose and replace the part that was causing the problem (it turned out to be a part that was not working properly in the heat pump outside). Shawn explained to me everything that he had done and asked if I had any questions. He was very professional and made sure to clean up behind himself. Once again, I give Island Breeze (who responded to and completed my service call in less than 24 hours) and their technician Shawn 5 stars for their excellent service and will recommend them to all of my friends and family! This is my 3rd review of Island Breeze HVAC. After receiving such wonderful service from them in the past, I decided to sign up for their HVAC maintenence program. The technician just left after performing a complete inspection and cleaning of my HVAC system (both inside and out). He was very professional and explained everything he had done, along with the results of his inspection. When I asked him if it would be okay for me to add more pvc pipe to the one where the water drained from my HVAC system to redirect it away from the foundation, he took it upon himself to do it for me! That's what I call going the extra mile. Siaka Kromah12:46 15 Jul 24 Island Breeze is a very punctual, professional, respectable, responsive company that provides quality service. They are always in constant communication to resolve all of their customers needs.Respectfully,Siaka Kromah

How can I improve my home's indoor air quality?

You can take these steps to improve your indoor air quality (IAQ):
  • Regular Air Filter Replacement: Change or clean your HVAC system’s air filters regularly (every 1-3 months).
  • Professional Air Duct Cleaning: Have your air ducts cleaned by professionals every few years to eliminate dust, mold, and other contaminants.
  • Improve Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in your home to bring in fresh air and exhaust stale air. Use exhaust fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Control Humidity Levels: Use a humidifier or dehumidifier to maintain optimal humidity levels and prevent mold growth.
  • Clean Regularly: Dust and vacuum frequently to minimize airborne particles.
  • Avoid Smoking Indoors: Smoking indoors significantly reduces IAQ.
  • Use Natural Cleaning Products: Opt for natural cleaning products that don’t release harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
  • Monitor Indoor Air Quality: Consider using an indoor air quality monitor to track pollutant levels.
If you have persistent IAQ issues, consult with an HVAC professional or an indoor air quality specialist for further assessment and solutions.

What is a SEER rating, and why is it important?

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures an air conditioner's cooling efficiency. Higher SEER ratings indicate greater energy efficiency. The minimum SEER rating for new AC units is typically 14, but higher SEER units (16-20 or more) are available. Choosing a higher SEER unit may have a higher upfront cost, but it can result in significant long-term energy savings.

What are the different types of HVAC systems?

Several types of HVAC systems are available for residential and commercial buildings:
  • Split Systems: The most common type, consisting of an outdoor unit (condenser/compressor) and an indoor unit (air handler/furnace).
  • Heat Pumps: Provide both heating and cooling by transferring heat between indoor and outdoor air.
  • Ductless Mini-Splits: Ideal for homes without existing ductwork or for adding heating and cooling to specific zones.
  • Packaged Units: A single unit that contains all the system's components.
  • Geothermal Heat Pumps: Use the earth's stable temperature to provide highly efficient heating and cooling.
An HVAC professional can help determine the best type of system for your needs and budget.
