The Alaska Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA) is a trade association representing mechanical contractors primarily operating in South Central Alaska, but also serving other areas of the state. Our member companies provide a comprehensive range of services within the mechanical contracting industry, including commercial plumbing, heating, HVAC, refrigeration, service, industrial piping, controls, and custom fabrication. Established in 1969, the AMCA was founded to promote the mechanical contracting industry in Alaska. Membership is open to any plumbing and/or sheet metal contractor who is signatory to either or both of the unions (local or national agreements). Annual dues are $500.00, and Anchorage association members automatically become members of the State association. The AMCA also offers membership in national organizations such as SMACNA or MCAA.

They began as a crew of two installing commercial and residential heating conversion systems when Anchorage made the switch from oil to natural gas in the mid-1960s. Jan van den Top joined the company in 1978, bringing his training and experience as a mechanical engineer on board. From those humble, no nonsense beginnings and backed by early success, Superior Plumbing and Heating, Inc. moved into new construction in Anchorage and later expanded into all areas of the State, helping to build Alaska from the inside out.
